We are really happy to announce that a new Content Provider has joined Archives Portal Europe: the Héraðsskjalasafn Skagfirðinga or Skagafjörður's Regional Archives. The archive was founded in 1947 in order to preserve manuscripts and other documents that reflected the history of Skagafjörður. The Archive also collects and preserve official documents generated in Skagafjörður.
The archive holds a comprehensive set of documents: a variety of official documents from local institutions, businesses and NGOs; manuscript collections; photographic collections; and smaller private collections. We have digitised around 40.000 photos, 1000 text documents, and 100 audio files, all available at atom.skagafjordur.is.
Ingestion in Archives Portal Europe is ongoing, you can monitor new available collections as they are uploaded & updated, together with all information to visit the archive, on the institution's page in APE.
